2021 Preparedness - Dual Focus: Week 40

Food - Week 40: Juice

A few years ago I was gifted a bottle of homemade apple cider, thank you Barb and Ed! It was amazing. If you live in an area with apple orchards or grape vineyards now is the time to make juice. If you are working with a buddy on food storage, and I hope you are, support is really motivating, now may be the time to invest in a steam juicer or fruit press. There are so many fruits that can be juiced - apples, cherries, grapes, plums, berries, and more.

Juice may seem like a luxury in a food storage plan but consider a few things... If there is a medical emergency, like a pandemic, or you just have illness in your home, the doctor will tell you to force liquids. Your patient will get tired of water very quickly. Juice is also a comfort food when times are tough, again, everyone will get tired of water. Juice can be easily reinvented and turned into jellies, another comfort food.

This week store (3) 64 ounce bottles of 100% juice per family member. Check the labels. If it isn’t 100% juice it’s just sugar water!

This is week 40 of our 52 week challenge. If you have kept up in just 12 short weeks you will have your 3 month supply of the foods you normally eat!

General Store - Week 40: Hydrogen Peroxide and Anti-Bacterial Cream

Another week and another challenge, add a couple bottles of hydrogen peroxide and a few tubes of anti-bacterial cream. Place a tube in your medicine cabinet at home, in 120 hour kits, in auto kits and in your desk at work.
