2023 Preparedness - Wednesday Wisdom: Week 30

July 26th

It’s almost time for back to school. Prepare now by taking an inventory of what you already have. Look through last year’s backpacks, drawers, and closets to identify what is already in your home. Inventory clothing and shoes that are still in good shape and still fit. You can save lots of money by using what you have already paid for and have. Create a master list of items you will need to purchase on your phone or in a small notebook you can carry with you. As you find items on sale, you will know what you need.

If you have a child or grandchild leaving for college, be aware colleges are not prepared to care for student needs. Some schools have backup generators for campus housing but off-campus apartments most likely do not. Are your students prepared for a power outage? If a student does not have a car how will they get needed food and supplies? Can they purify water? Most importantly do they have the skills needed? Take time now to design and print an emergency binder to send to school with your college students. Remember the

Totally Ready Binder can be purchased as sections, only the info you feel you need. Families need all sections, but a student will not need the section on food storage for example. Get prepping for your students this week!
