Food - Week 28: Fruit


We’re in fruit season - so it’s time to get canning, freezing, and storing fruit. If you don’t know how to can or just don’t have the equipment now is the time to ask for help. If you don’t have fruit trees post a message on Facebook and /or email your contacts and ask if they have anything they are willing to share. If you still don’t have access to fruit try a Farmer’s Market or ask your local grocer if they would be willing to order some cases just for you. I often do this with cucumbers for pickling. They will usually give you a better price because they know none will go to waste, so no loss to them since they won’t need to throw any away they didn’t sell.


This week store 5 (14oz.) cans or 5 pints of fruit per family member.
